Knightowl (Ramon Corona) is a Chicano Rap artist that has recorded since 1993.He got is nickname "Knightowl" by local friends growing up for the reason that he would be seen only in the night and rarely throughout the day. He got his fame when he recorded his infamous song "Daddy Im in love with a gangsta" It had a mix to streets but also radio mix. He was the first gangster rapper to make a song about love. With his success came big labels knocking at his door. He finally decided to sign with Colombia Records but quickly learned that the big music label companies were making all the money and he was not. He decided to start his own records label but the name of "SAWED OFF RECORDS" With that done he had artist creativity to do whatever me wanted. He signed "Mr. Shadow" who also made a huge name for himself in the Chicano rap scene. IN 1994 Eazy-E founder of Ruthless Records and member of NWA was going to sign Mr. Knightowl, DJ Mikeski and Lil Uno from South San Diego as a secret weapon against DeathRow Records, Suge Knight and Dr. Dre. Due to the sudden death of Eazy-E, this did not happen. Mr. Knightowl has worked with many different artists through his career: Daz Dillenger, Kid Frost, Eazy-E, Lil Rob, David Salas just to name a few. Mr.Knightowl raps in Caló (Chicano), although English is the most prominent language in his raps. In 2000 Knightowl was joined by chicano rapper Lil' One for the Hollow Point collaborative which released The Little & The Owl album. He is considered one of the West Coast's top Chicano gangsta rappers.
